Odd–Even Effect in Electron Beam Irradiation of Hybrid Aromatic–Aliphatic Self-Assembled Monolayers of Fatty Acid

چکیده

Electron irradiation of aromatic self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) in combination with different lithographic approaches provides an interesting alternative for high-resolution surface patterning. More recently, it has been also demonstrated that this process can be used carbon nanomembrane (CNM) fabrication, which forms technologically attractive 2D materials, potential applications areas nanotechnology such as ultrafiltration and nanobiosensing. To better understand the relation between original SAM structure resulting CNM formation, current study, we conduct systematic analysis electron a model system deposited on Ag substrates based homologue series biphenyl substituted carboxylic acids [C6H5–C6H4–(CH2)n–COO/Ag, n = 2–6] lengths aliphatic linker defined by number n. Our results X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy irradiated show electron-induced desorption, cross-linking, elimination binding group depend parity parameter (the odd–even effect). observations indicate way controlling thickness purity nanomembranes, are key parameters determining range applications.

Electron tunnelling in self-assembled monolayers

A review on the mechanisms and characterization methods of electronic transport through self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) is presented. Using SAMs of alkanethiols in a nanometre scale device structure, tunnelling is unambiguously demonstrated as the main intrinsic conduction mechanism for defect-free large bandgap SAMs, exhibiting well-known temperature and length dependences. Inelastic electron...

Controlling gold nanoparticle assembly on electron beam-reduced nitrophenyl self-assembled monolayers via electron dose

Electron Beam Lithography is a well-established tool suitable for the modification of substrate surface chemistry. It therefore follows that the deposition and self-assembly of nanoparticles on a surface can be directed using this method. This work explores the effect of electron dose on the electron beam lithographic patterning of selfassembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold surfaces. Electron beam...

Effect of Electron Beam Irradiation on Viability of Sarcocystis spp. in Beef

Background: Sarcocystosis is one of the most distributed parasitic diseases over the world, caused by Sarcocystis spp. In this study, we assessed the effect of electron beam irradiation on the viability of Sarcocystis spp. in beef.  Methods: Experimental beef groups were irradiated by four different electron beam doses of 1, 2, 3, and 4 kGy, at intervals of 0 and 24 h after irradiation, then t...

Electron-beam patterned self-assembled monolayers as templates for Cu electrodeposition and lift-off

Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of 4'-methylbiphenyl-4-thiol (MBP0) adsorbed on polycrystalline gold substrates served as templates to control electrochemical deposition of Cu structures from acidic solution, and enabled the subsequent lift-off of the metal structures by attachment to epoxy glue. By exploiting the negative-resist behaviour of MBP0, the SAM was patterned by means of electron-be...

Reactivity of acid fluoride-terminated self-assembled monolayers on gold.

This report describes the reactivity of acid fluoride (AF)-terminated self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold toward amine and alcohol compounds and the potentiality of AF as a reactive intermediate for surface functionalizations. The AF group was generated in situ on a gold surface by reacting the terminal carboxylic acid group in the SAM of 16-mercaptohexadecanoic acid with cyanuric fluoride...
